My father always chose his working dogs on the length of
their tail, saying, "the shorter the tail the more
faithful the dog". To my good fortune I stumbled
upon the Australian Stumpy Tail Cattle Dog in 1991 &
have been stumpy mad ever since.
Welcome to 'Droversmist Kennels'. My name is
Lynda. We are located at Millthorpe NSW. A historic
little village with big ambitions, in the heart of
Central Western NSW, Australia. Winters are
extremely cold here so our sense of humor has to be
extra cosy.
I am a country girl raised on an
extraordinary farm, surrounded by dogs, cats, horses,
cattle, sheep, pigs, chooks, & 1 crazy sulphur crested
cockatoo.
So what made it so
extraordinary? The animals. We just seemed to accumulate unique
animals. The cockatoo that had a fetish for letting down
car tires or stopping passing traffic just to say hello.
The milking cow that would go loopy every full moon, the
pig that was born a little slow, the dog they gave me
for my 3rd birthday when I specifically asked for an
elephant (& named it Jumbo).

There are so many wonderful
stories behind all of them. It is no wonder that animals
are just a natural extension of who I am. They
have helped me develop a good sense of humor, to be able
to look at the funny side of any situation, & never take
anything too seriously, especially myself.
My husband Bill & our 3 boys,
Darcy, Bevan & Corey now live on a much smaller
property, but the tradition of gathering unique animals
has continued.
On weekends I volunteer as an
instructor at a local Obedience club. I do demonstration
work with my dogs, which involves heeling to music,
tricks, & basic obedience. Between this the kids school
& sport, work & running a house hold I attempt to to
compete in Obedience Trials & the Breed Ring. If ever
time permits I would also like to persue Freestyle,
Agility, Working Dog Trials & Tracking. Basically I
just love having fun with my dogs.
If
you too have a love for life, & would love to have a
great mate to share it with maybe a stumpy is for you
too.
Please feel free to browse the
following pages & get to know us a little better. Not
all the dogs featured are true stumpies but I love them
too much to leave them out. Forgive me!
